Entertainment

Cyprus Nightlife is some of the best in world. The legendary Ayia Napa provides the liveliest night scene for all night party lovers! For a more traditional vibe, Paphos has its own dedicated Bar Street with a range of bars and restaurants whilst Limassol offers the greatest range of places to go.

Festivities

Cypriot traditions dictate that certain holiday dates are observed and celebrated to the full. Carnival Weekend in March, is particularly good in Limassol with its delightful street parades and fancy dress parties, whilst Greek Easter in April, is always a very special time to be in Cyprus. The New Year and Christmas period in Cyprus is very festive, with great parties at most of the hotels and the streets adorned with decorations at this festive time.

Cuisine

Cyprus’s location dictates that Cypriot cuisine takes influence from a host of countries. This unique blend of tastes means that there is something to suit every palette from the biggest meat-eaters to vegetarians. Take a trip to one of the local tavernas to try either a meat or fish ‘Meze’. The meal consists of a large selection of dishes with small helpings of varied foods, brought to the table as a progression of tastes and textures and representing incredible value for money. Other musts, include a traditional potato/aubergine based dish called Moussaka, a slow-cooked lamb “Kleftiko”, and for the vegetarians “Yemista” – vegetables stuffed with a mixture of rice, pine nuts, sultanas, garlic and parmesan cheese.

Drink

Cypriot brandy is commonly drunk with meze dishes, and forms the base for the distinctive Brandy Sour, developed on the island in the late 1930s. Zivania, a grape distillate, is also another popular spirit. Cyprus has been producing wine and grape derived drinks for well over 1,000 years.
