Your trip will begin with a flight from UK to Verona, followed by two nights in the Hotel Indigo – Grand Hotel Des Arts on a b&b basis. The hotel is ideally situated, allowing you to explore Verona at your own leisure. You will attend Aida Opera at the stunning Arena Di Verona, taking in the wonderful performance in an idyllic setting.
Following your two nights in Verona, you will transfer to Verona Porta Nuova rail station where you board the iconic Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train for an unforgettable overnight rail journey to London. DETAILED ITINERARY
2024 Venice Simplon-Orient-Express & Verona Opera Package
Day One
- Fly from London Gatwick (regional available) to Verona and a private driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in Verona.
- Check in to Grand Hotel Des Arts – perfectly located in the heart of Verona and very close to Juliet’s balcony and the Arena di Verona.
- This evening, make your way to the Arena di Verona, a stunning 1st century Roman amphitheater which is the perfect venue for Aida to take place. Poltrona (3rd category) tickets are included (upgrades available). The performance begins at 20:45.
Day Two:
- Enjoy your day and evening at leisure, The city of Verona is rich with Roman antiquities (the city is also known as little Rome) and is spoilt for choice when it comes to sampling food and wine from maybe the most productive region in Italy
Day Three:
- Following a leisurely breakfast and maybe one last stroll around Verona, your private car transfer will take you to Porta Nuova rail station where you’ll join the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train for your journey to London.
- Board the train and, once settled, enjoy a lavish three-course lunch in one of our opulent dining cars. Spend the afternoon relaxing in the comfort of your private cabin with high tea, gazing at Europe as it unfolds before you.
- Later, a decadent four-course dinner is prepared on board by our skilled chefs. After you may wish to carouse in the Bar Car, listening to our resident pianist as champagne flows freely. When ready, retire to your suite or cabin, which you’ll find has been transformed into a cosy boudoir.
Day Four:
- Your steward serves Continental breakfast in your cabin before the train pulls into Paris.
- Transfer to Paris Gare du Nord for your Eurostar train service to London St Pancras.
ARENA DI VERONA
Arena Di Verona
The Opera Festival at the Arena di Verona began in 10th August 1913, with the first performance of Aida organized by Verona tenor Giovanni Zenatello and impresario Ottone Rovato to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi.
For over a hundred years (except for two short breaks during the two World Wars), every summer the Roman amphitheatre is transformed into the world’s largest open-air opera theatre.
The opera festival takes place every year from June to September, with regular scheduled performances including Carmen, Aida, Nabucco, La Traviata and Turandot.
